ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2007-2008
July – June
Admission to the three year degree course starts just after the publication of the results of Higher Secondary Exams and classes starts shortly after the admission procedure is completed. Pass certificates of University exams are delivered to the students on every working day from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. from 10 to 20 June each year. Information regarding the forms or schedules of University examinations are notified on the notice-board.
 
We have three kinds of forms:

Science, Arts and Microbiology

In Science stream the allotted subjects are :

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Statistics, Economics

In Arts stream the allotted subjects are :

Political Science, History, English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Geography, Economics.

For Microbiology a separate form is issued.

CRITERIA OF EACH SUBJECT

According to the Burdwan University rule, in each stream minimum criteria for admission is 45% marks in aggregate in HS(Higher Secondary) or equivalent.

Subjectwise criteria:

1. Political Science: For those students who have political science as one of his/her subject must secure 45% marks in the subject and for other students 45% marks is required either in English or Bengali.
2. History: 50% in the subject. For those candidates who don't have history as one his/her subjects in HS must secure 50% marks in English or Bengali
3. Bengali: Both in Madhyamik and HS the total marks should be atleast 50% and in HS, 50% marks is required in the subject
4. English : Madhyamik English – 50%, HS total – 60%, HS English – 60%
5. Sanskrit : Madhyamik English or Bengali – 45%, In HS Sanskrit – 60%
6. Chemistry : HS Total – 65%, HS Chemistry – 65%, HS English – 40%, HS Mathematics – 40%
7. Physics : HS Total – 65%, HS Physics – 65%, HS English – 40%, HS Mathematics – 40%
8. Geography : HS Total – 65%, HS Geography – 65%, HS English – 40%, HS Mathematics – 40%
9. Zoology : HS Total – 65%, HS Biology – 65%, HS English – 40%, HS Mathematics – 40%, Chemistry – only pass marks
10. Mathematics : HS Mathematics – 60%, HS Total – 50%
11. Statistics : HS Mathematics – 45 %
12. Economics : HS Economics or HS English or HS Bengali – 40%, HS Mathematics – only pass marks
13. Microbiology : HS total – 50%, HS Biology – 55%, HS Chemistry – only pass marks.
14. Botany : HS total – 55%, HS Biology – 60%, HS English – 40%, HS Chemistry – only pass marks.

 
NOTE : HS(Higher Secondary) means - Higher Secondary or Equivalent ( i.e. 10+2 ).
Madhyamik mens - Madhyamik or Equivalent (i.e. 10) .
 
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE STUDENTS
1. A free-book is issued to each student at the time of admission. Tuition fees and other fees should be deposited in the cash counter on notified days by fee book. If authority on the last Wednesday of each month with an FIR and a fine of Rs. 2/-. Duplicate fee-book will be issued after three days of receipt of application, between 9-10 a.m. for morning section and 1-2 p.m. for day section.
2. If the college-identity card is lost, students have to apply to the college authority on every second Wednesday with the copy of the FIR and a fine of Rs. 2/-. Duplicate identity card will be issued after three days of receipt of application between 9 a.m.-10 a.m. for morning section and 1 p.m.-2p.m. for day section.
3. The receipt of caution deposit should be kept carefully, because it is compulsory to submit that receipt at the time of refund of the deposit. The deposited money must be taken back in between the fourth year (April-March) from the day of deposit, otherwise it would not be refunded.
4. For any kind of need in the college office, the fee-book and proper papers must be submitted.
5. Tuition fees should be deposited within the twenty fifth day of every month. Tuition fees will be accepted from the students on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. for Morning section and 12 p.m. – 2p.m. for Day section.
6. A student is not permitted to submit the fees or form for the final exams. Till he/she does not return the library books or N.C.C. uniform. In such cases deposited fund is not refunded to the student.
7. A certain portion of the deposited caution money is deducted for the minor damages, but an extra fine has to be paid by the students according to rules for major damages, if any.
8. Instruction for filling up of University registration, stipend and examination forms will be notified in college notice board in time.
9. Certificates, marksheets, admit cards etc. will be delivered to the students in between notified date and time on submission of fee-book and proper documents.
10. One has to apply minimum three days ahead for transfer certificate, college-leaving certificate or any kind of special certificate. These certificates should be taken on submission of fee-book and proper documents. For duplicate college leaving certificate, one has to apply with copy of FIR and a fine of Rs 2/-. The duplicate certificate will be issued after three days between 9 a.m.-10a.m. for morning section and 1 p.m.-2 p.m. for day section.
11. For attestation of photographs by the Principal, recent passport size photo in white or, light coloured dress is preferred.
12. Certificate to the successful students will be issued on every working FRIDAY between 12 noon to 2 P.M. only on production of original marksheet & admit card.
 
ATTENDANCE
According to the University rules, each student needs to be present in minimum 75% of classes in each subject. If there is any shortfall in attendance, the decision of allowing the student to appear in the final examination will rest with the proper authority and if the attendance of any student is below 50% he/she will not be able to sit for the University final examination.
 
DISCIPLINE
The fame of a college mainly depends upon the behavior of the students. Each registered student of the college must have to abide by the internal rules and regulations of the college. Even outside college, in time of an excursion or, in the field of a sports competition, the students are bound to abide by the rules and regulations properly. Each and every student has to take care of his/her dress which must be clean and presentable. The students must behave according to socially accepted norms of decency.
